Supplied by the Cyprus Government Electrity Authority  E.A.C
Bills payable every quarter
Includes T.V as no separate T.V licemce as such, charges very much lower than comparative UK rates

Water
Via your Local Municipality / Town Hall from the Government Water Authority
These are the 2 services in Cyprus. There is no "mains" Gas at present

GAS
Gas Cookers and Heaters are frequently used and for these all local shops and
Garages sell LPG Gas Bottles - the normal large 10 to 12  kgs Net weight  Bottle currently costing Cyp 5.20.

 

Solar Panels
Are the source for Water Heating with "immersion heater" boost/back up on the rare 'cloudy' days.
Very efficent and used "all year round"

Central Heating
"Diesel" - still very popular- but with Oil price increases - "underfloor" systems and recently more electrical systems now especialy "dual" - "Hot & Cold" Air Con systems. Diesel is still around 3 pounds a Gallon though, some 2 pounds less than the UK

ELECTRICITY
Electricity supply in Cyprus is 240 Volts and to a standard U.K 3 - pin plug configuration Normal U.K  BSA standards cabling and colour configuration apply.

Costs are again very much lower than ther U.K even accounting for Air Conditioning use in the summer months.  For an average 3 bedroom household including A/C use charges during the Summer quarter would be very unlikely to exceed Cyp 130 and much less in the Winter

All your U.K appliances - T.V's and ancillary Chargers [for mobile phoes] and Computers etc will work perfectly. Surge plugs for P.C equipment are available locally and recommended.

The cost of local electrical work - extra plug fitting - accessories and cabling can be up to 75% less than in the U.K.

Electrical & T.V "repairs" [including "call out"] can be Cyp 15 to 20 max

There is now a wide range of German & Far East imported appliances available locally, in addition to all the well known Brands.
Some - especially from the Far East - should be 'watched' as colour coding can be somewhat "different".

 

 

WATER

Mains water in Cyprus is quite safe to drink and freely available. 
Water is metered and charges are very, very much lower than in the U.K.
Consumption for a 3 bedroom household would be in the region of Cyp 15 to 20 per quarter.
Many Villas will have well facilities and some local councils give grants of up to Cyp 100 to cover the cost of drilling and installing a well and pump

There are also a pletherer of "Pure  Mountain Water" dispensers in all Towns and Villages - where a 20 ltr container fill - currently costs Cyp 0.50
