Cyprus enjoys one of the lowest Crime Rates in Europe some 16% only of the total “average” EEC Crime Rate and just 6% of the present U.K Crime Rate.

 

Yes Crime does happen here, but the vast majority of the Cypriot people are law abiding and “family” people and strongly uphold and maintain the “family” values of Respect. 

       
“Respect of the Person” and “Respect of their “Property”

You will find very few local Houses with “Bars at the Windows”. Burglar Alarms and/or High Gates and Fences and CCTV. These are available and can be purchased and installed if required. In the Villages local people still go out leaving doors open

 

Times may change – but at present – you – your wife, children and Family have complete Freedom to go out at any time - anywhere without fear or hindrance especially in the evening.

This especially applies to the elderly – and Retired - who in Cyprus are respected and given every courtesy and priority.

 

Sometimes our British Staff complain, especially one Manager who’s Mother in Law used to visit often and would frequently go “walk about” in the Village and get "lost” – he complained to the Police that they should stop giving her a lift and bringing her back every 'home' time !

You will have to get used to 'No Grills' and 'No Bullet proof glass' - just open Counters
